Hide My Email: how to switch

Update your Apple relay to your personal email

Updated over a week ago

The following instructions will only help if you did not create a duplicate account with your personal email. Please email [email protected] if you suspect that you have duplicate accounts.

How to identify which email you shared

  • iOS: Settings > [your name] > Sign in with Apple > Pickup Music.

  • Mac: Settings > [your name] > Sign in with Apple > Pickup Music.

If you see a …@privaterelay.appleid.com address, you used Hide My Email. This is what is connected to your Pickup Music account.

How to keep Apple connected and update Pickup Music to your personal email

Prerequisite: set a Pickup Music password first

When you first use Sign in with Apple (SIWA), your Pickup Music account likely does not have a password yet. Changing your account email requires a password. SIWA allows you to bypass password setup due to Apple's authorization.

  1. Use SIWA to access Pickup Music, go to My Account > Account > Change password. Follow the steps to update your password through the confirmation email.

  2. Then go to My Account > Account > Email and change the email to your personal Apple ID email (must not be in use on another Pickup account).

  3. Verify via the confirmation email.

After this, you can keep using SIWA, and your Pickup account profile will reflect your personal Apple ID email. Moving forward you can either use SIWA or you can enter the email in the text field and choose to "Continue with Apple".

Note: Your Apple Settings will still display the private relay address for Pickup Music. Changing your email inside Pickup doesn’t alter Apple’s authorization record. SIWA links via your Apple ID identifier, so you could still sign in successfully even while Apple showed the private relay.
